| This was an ambitious trip that I took with Mike Jonnes a little way into Eastern Turkey. The trip centered on three places, Sivas, Amasya, and Samsun was in the late Summer of 1966. It probably lasted a week or so. I had wanted to get a little more into the more exotic Eastern part and we went first to Sivas, dating back at least to 1500 BC and conquered and occupied by just about everyone, but known for its Seljuk architecture. From Sivas we headed north and went to Amasya, once the home of the Pontic Kingdom and then on to Samsun on the Black Sea. |
